Originally from England he moved to the US where he worked for Roseville as well as had a studio of his own. The Fiesta line was introduced in January of 1936. The design is based on the circle and was available in a number of bright rainbow colors. The intention was to create an open stock product which would be inexpensive and easily modified as respect color and service pieces. Except for a brief period in the 1980's it has been in continuous availabilty for 90 years. You cannot safely or legally recreate the original vintage Fiesta red glaze at home, as its iconic, radioactive brilliance was achieved using up to \(14\%\) natural uranium oxide by weight. Homer Laughlin ceased this practice in 1944, briefly resuming with depleted uranium in the 1950s. This glaze is the most highly prized by collectors as it is so vivid. One of the Holy Grails of Fiesta collecting is a complete set of the mixing bowls in “red”. This piece would be the first off 7 in your quest. A copy of the set is in the photos.
