This parcel has the classic darker Mintabie look collectors and cutters chase — moody body tones with electric color sitting beneath the surface. Several pieces show potential for small calibrated stones, freeforms, or study cuts, while others are better suited for specimen or practice material. These stones came from an old-stock parcel reportedly held since the 1980s from a family mining stash, with much of the material remaining unworked until recently. Mintabie material has become increasingly difficult to source since the field closure, especially older untouched rough with visible color. Older Mintabie material can display natural inclusions, internal stress, or crazing typical of the field and should be handled accordingly during cutting.
