Free eBay listing template designed by dewiso.com Rare 1890's Parsons & Pool's Uncle Tom's Cabin & Tennessee Jubilee Singers Broadside This rare broadside advertising an upcoming performance of Parsons & Pool's long running Uncle Tom's Cabin stage production with the Tennessee Jubilee Singers dates from the early 1890's and measures 24" x 9" It has some great woodcuts showing scenes from the play over an image of a cabin in the center and displays well. There is some worming near the bottom, and a small piece near the top is detached (but included) with minimal paper loss, so that could be repaired if so desired. This is an extremely rare broadside, with very few copies known. Parson & Pool's was one of the more notable theatre companies performing Uncle Toms Cabin during the late 1800's and toured New England and the Mid-Atlantic area in the 1880's-1890's. Their performances featured the Tennessee Jubilee Singers, an African American a cappella ensemble that was composed of Fisk University students, originally formed to raise money for the college, that helped popularize Jubilee singing.
