Travel, Translation and Transmedia Aesthetics Please note: this item is printed on demand and will take extra time before it can be dispatched to you (up to 20 working days). Franco-Chinese Literature and Visual Arts in a Global Age Author(s): Shuangyi Li Format: Hardback Publisher: Springer Verlag, Singapore, Singapore Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan ISBN-13: 9789811655616, 978-9811655616 Synopsis This book examines the works of four contemporary first-generation Chinese migrant writer-artists in France: Franois CHENG, GAO Xingjian, DAI Sijie, and SHAN Sa. They were all born in China, moved to France in their adulthood to pursue their literary and artistic ambitions, and have enjoyed the highest French and Western institutional recognitions, from the Grand Prix de la Francophonie to the Nobel Prize in Literature. They have established themselves not only as writers, but also as translators, calligraphers, painters, playwrights, and filmmakers mainly in their host country. French has become their dominantbut not onlylanguage of literary creation (except for Gao); yet, linguistic idioms, poetic imagery, and classical thought from Chinese cultural heritage permeate their French texts and visual artworks, reflecting a strong translingual and transmedial sensibility. The book provides not only distinctive literary and artistic examples beyond existing studies of intercultural encounter, French postcolonial, and Chinese diasporic enquiries; more importantly, it formulates a theoretical model that captures the creative dynamics between the French/francophone andChinese/sinophone spaces of articulation, thereby contributing to contemporary debates about literary and artistic production, interpretation, and circulation in the global development of comparative/world literature, as well as intermediality studies.

  1. Good seller, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ item as described, packaging average, delivery was a huge disappointment as it was thrown at my front door by an AMAZON driver. I purchased via eBay to avoid AMAZON, now they are involved leaving our eBay purchases on our doorsteps. I do have cctv of the driver throwing my package. I brought the poor delivery to the attention of the seller who advised they would contact the delivery organisation concerned about the breach in their delivery instructions.

    Relatively Uncertain
  2. This new book I ordered was poorly packaged & arrived in a cardboard wrap which was wide open & the pages had bent & damaged corners. I contacted the seller who sent a return label & arranged for a new replacement to be sent out. The new book arrived in great condition a few days later. Very happy with their communication & the way they resolved my issue quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to shop with them again. Thank you for the great customer service.

  3. It seems silly being asked to leave feedback 3 times for 3 books bought in the same order so 'copy and paste' it is... Ordered Friday and delivered the following Friday. Communicayion was good but the courier was a bit optimistic saying on Thursday that I would get the parcel that day. It arrived the next afternoon. Good packaging, all books new and excelllent condition. Good prices = or I would not have purchased!
