Vintage Brass Teachenor-Bartberger Engraving Co. Advertising Paper Clip
$ 26.4
Description
Vintage Brass Teachenor-Bartberger Engraving Co. Advertising Paper Clip. It is about 2.75" long x about 2" wide. This auction is for a vintage (early 20th century) brass paper or document clip, featuring advertising for The Teachenor-Bartberger Engraving Company of Kansas City, Missouri. The Teachenor-Bartberger Company was established in 1891 and, by its incorporation date of 1911, had become the largest engraving business in Kansas City. They specialized in what was then high-tech cutting-edge technologies, such as halftones (which allowed for printing of photographs in newspapers and books) as well as zinc etchings (which were used for "line art" like maps or logos), and they produced everything from fine postcards to industrial catalogs. The back of this clip says, "Etching Co of America Chicago", the company that actually manufactured the clip for Teachenor-Bartberger. The clip is fully functional and shows some minor wear as might be expected for its century-old age. It is about 2.75" long x about 2" wide. The combination of the two companies on this one object makes it a unique piece of "industry-on-industry" advertising, where one firm uses another's manufacturing expertise to promote itself. A great item for collectors of vintage advertising or for collectors of vintage office/industrial decor! Please note: I am doing my best to describe this item, but please study the pictures carefully and I will happily send more photos if desired. Please ask any questions before bidding as I am not now accepting any returns. Please pay within seven days of the end of the auction.
