1850 Hartford and New Haven Railroad Payment Receipt M. L. Sikes Jr. $1,200. All key details are completed in period brown ink in an elegant mid-19th-century hand. Condition: Fine to excellent; minimal toning, sharp printing, strong ink signatures. Original printed receipt dated July 6, 1850, issued by the Hartford and New Haven Railroad Company and signed by M. L. Sikes Jr. This document acknowledges the receipt of $1,200.00, written as “Twelve Hundred Dollars,” for disbursements. Printed on light cream paper, the form features a decorative engraved border at left, shaded panels for the amount and receipt number (No. 221), and crisp black type reading “Hartford and New Haven Railroad Company.” All key details are completed in period brown ink in an elegant mid-19th-century hand. The reverse bears a brief handwritten endorsement repeating the name, date, and amount—indicating internal bookkeeping or audit notation.
