On offer is a rare, vintage Longines Admiral Automatic wristwatch. Powered by Longines highly regarded caliber 431 movement which features an automatic winder as well as a date display, this super thin movement is Longines first 'high beat' and operates at 36000 vph (vibrations per hour), the second, later version at 28800. To the eye the seconds hand appears to glide around the dial, not tick like a regular mechanical watch, and the high speed increases its accuracy. Longines offered this style in several colour schemes, but this blue one (Ref 8581-2) is the most favoured amongst collectors and also the hardest to find. In nice original condition and unrestored, it shows some signs of age, though presents well to the eye. Runs very well, keeping good time but could benefit from a service. Original Longines crystal shows some age. Aftermarket crown. Fitted with matching steel, Oyster style bracelet in very good condition with secure catch. Autowinder functions correctly as does date change. Comes with its original sales/warranty book from 1972 and its first service receipt also dated 1972. A hugely stylish, rare vintage Longines with history from new. A rare find. Case measures 39mm X 40mm X 10mm. Strap lugs 19mm.
