Salvador, the family of Uncle Barret must leave the cottage. Uncle Barret is arrested for killing D. Salvador, and he is incarcerated and condemned to death. Ten years pass and Batiste and his family arrive to take up residence in the tragic property. In the fertile region of Valencia, the family of Uncle Barret has to leave its home, the cottage: la "barraca", because they cannot pay the debts due to the owner. Don Salvador. Uncle Barret, drunk and furious, kills Don Salvador and is imprisoned. The cottage is occupied by Batiste's family which is received with hostility by the farmers, due to the tense circumstances in which the house was previously abandoned. This hostility will gradually turn into violence.
