Coming from the pop art painting and self-training as a filmmaker - except for a brief apprenticeship in a private school Aixelà film, Padros makes his film in a completely marginal form, without any protection, often with rotating expired material, and without no second takes. After a first experiment in 8mm, Alice has Discovered the Napalm Bomb (1968), he began working regularly in 16mm, using expired film. Dafni and Cloe (1969) and Pim Pam, Pum, Revolution (1970) marked the birth of an artist poetic, abstract and without limits. Lock Out (1973) represents his first feature film shot with no sound, Orly to be followed by Shirley Tempe Story (1976), a 226 minutes of footage edited in one night. Padrós' work has been consistent, and free of dogma and fashion. An artist fascinated by the movies, Padrós hates anything that reflects the everyday mimetic, everything that brings us to easily palpable realities through explicit illustrations. Hence his images are presented as a film quest for other worlds, other realities that are targeted by the suggestion of the allusion, told with elliptical language. Based on his dictates Swedenborg was developed, a film shot in black and white and in 16 mm. An experimental story that examines in detail the passions, frustrations, hatreds, dependences and humiliations of the couple.Lock-Out (1973)The recently restored film is an allegory of political oppression under Franco, with a plot alternating between narrative sequences and dream-like moments styled after the Spanish avant garde. Padros employs a range of musical forms including opera, scores, and choreography to underscore a plot featuring a group of dropouts living in a junkyard, who try to re-integrate with "The System" as represented by a party. Anarchy and absurdism are the stylistic veils covering this harsh criticism of the Franco regime.Shirley Temple Story (1976)Louella Parsons notifies in her radio show that Judy Garland will finally play the leading role in The Wizard of Oz. Peeing in her toilet, Shirley Temple announces that she will look for the Wizard so that he can convince MGM's executives to give her the part. Shirley starts her journey along with Mrs Pit, Mrs Pot and Mrs Put, generals' daughters and defenders of the values of 'Order, Homeland and Family'. On their way to Oz, three anarcho-structuralists join them and try to sabotage their trip. On the road, Shirley and her friends meet other strange characters, ranging from the Witch of the East to a folk singer, who compares the Emerald Country (sic) to Spain. The Witch and the anarchists kill Pit, Pot and Put and drug Shirley before reaching Oz. Once there, the anarcho-structuralists try to explain their views to the Wizard, but are attacked and tied up by the ghosts of Pit, Pot and Put, thus putting down their revolutionary's version of History. The Wizard, exhausted, leaves the room without talking to Shirley. One of his servants tells Shirley to go home with the silent majority. Shirley, frustrated, takes her wig off and looks in the camera. The curtain falls. Judy Garland sings 'Over the rainbow'.
