Dropped out of the sculpture department at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1951. Participated in the founding of the Nippon Design Center in 1960 and currently serves as its chief advisor. Became a member of the Tokyo Art Directors Club (ADC) in 1965 and the International Graphic Designers Association (AGI) in 1966.
