RARE 1913 GEORGE WASHINGTON AS A FREEMASON PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED FINE BINDING. George Washington was initiated as a Freemason in 1752 at the Fredericksburg Lodge in Virginia. From 1913, this is a monumental first edition, Washington: The Man and the Mason, by Charles H. Callahan, published under the auspices of the Memorial Temple Committee of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial Association. A big book sized 11x10 inches, bound in highly embossed leather patterned cloth, looks like leather but is more durable. 380 pages, with dozens and dozens of great pictures. Wonderful condition. George Washington was initiated as a Freemason in 1752 at the Fredericksburg Lodge in Virginia. Throughout his life, he remained actively involved in the fraternity, notably becoming the Charter Master of the Alexandria Lodge in 1788 and laying the U.S. Capitol cornerstone in Masonic regalia.His enduring legacy in the fraternity is well-documented and celebrated across a variety of historical records:Initiation: He received his first degree as an Entered Apprentice on November 4, 1752, at age 20, and was raised to a Master Mason in August 1753.Presidential Ties: During his first inauguration in 1789, Washington famously took the oath of office on a Bible belonging to St. John's Lodge No. 1 in New York.Alexandria Lodge No. 22: He served as the Charter Master of the Alexandria Lodge (now Alexandria-Washington Lodge № 22).
