1610 Vellum Antiquarian 416 Years Old Ludovicus Makeblijde . The vellum binding is heavily toned and soiled, with scuffing, warping, creasing, and darkened areas. The text block shows separation and exposed sewing supports/cords. Suitable for collectors of antiquarian books, early religious printing, vellum bindings, and provenance material. A scarce early 17th-century religious book, printed in Antwerp in 1610, titled Den Schat der Christelicker Leeringhe tot verclaringhe van den Catechismus, written by Ludovicum Makeblijde. This is a small vellum-bound volume with substantial age, wear, and evidence of long use. The title page shows the Antwerp imprint and an engraved device, and the binding appears to be an early limp vellum binding. The book retains a strong period appearance and has appealing signs of age, including old ownership inscriptions, handwritten notes, and early pen work on the endleaves and title page. There are several noteworthy handwritten elements. Inside, there is a handwritten ownership note in French that appears to reference “francoise de knollys” or a very similar spelling, and another inscription clearly appears to read “françoise de knollys” beneath an ornamental pen device.
