From my personal collection, I have this 2013 Canadian 1 oz Proof Silver coin "The Maple of Peace" from the Royal Canadian Mint.It is part of the RCM’s hologram maple leaf series that celebrates Chinese Canadian history & traditions. Features unique selective hologram with two colourful maple leaves. Mintage of 8,888 coins worldwide. The number “8” is a symbol of good fortune in Chinese culture. Every detail of the coin is symbolic: the elephant’s long coiled trunk reflects longevity the ear, decorated with a chrysanthemum in full bloom, depicts ease and good fortune beneath the elephant’s belly are the Chinese characters for “peace” each type of flower engraved blooms at a different time in a year the motif is designed to extend a blessing of peace throughout the year The coin was designed by Canadian artist Simon Ng, of an elephant in traditional dressing. The riding blanket bears a central medallion containing a hologram of two maple leaves. This coin comes in its original RCM packaging, which is an encapsulated coin presented in a clam shell case, protected by a black sleeve.
