Comes w service info for Colonel Loveland who enlisted in 1861as a private and rose through the ranks. This is maybe the rattiest Civil War document I have ever owned, (aside from my copy of Lee's General Order Number 9 which is in beyond awful condition). But I couldn’t resist this makeshift pass issued in the trenches on the only paper this officer could find in the moment apparently.
