The book is Josiah White’s History, Given by Himself, an autobiographical memoir of the 19th-century American industrialist Josiah White (1781–1850). It highlights his innovative work in canal navigation, railroad construction, and the first large-scale use of anthracite coal. Historical Significance: Scholars consider this work culturally important for its insights into early 19th-century political, economic, and social developments in the United States. Editions: 1909: A limited edition of 100 copies was privately printed in Philadelphia by G.H. Buchanan. 1946: Another limited, privately printed run of 100 copies was released by The Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. Modern Reprints: It has been widely reproduced by libraries and publishers like Leopold Classic Library and Legare Street Press The book is in very good shape just a bit dirty on the outside. Pages all look great. Easton PA is mentioned because the High Moore Canal Park and museum have a canal boat called the Josiah White and have rides on it all through the summer!
