Vintage Key-R-Ect. The committee finds that, although the keys fit into the lock, they will not open it. The committee then mixes all of the keys and seals them in seperate envelopes. In fact, he need never touch or even see the lock, keys or envelopes. The effect is this: The magician, or mentalist, gives a padlock and seven keys to a committee of spectators for examination and asks them to try each key in the lock. The committee finds that, although the keys fit into the lock, they will not open it. The magician then presents a similar key that does open the lock and they open it themselves and snap it shut through someone’s buttonhole. The committee then mixes all of the keys and seals them in seperate envelopes. The performer stands far away during al1of the proceedings. In fact, he need never touch or even see the lock, keys or envelopes. Yet, when the committee holds up the envelopes one at a time, he correctly points out the one containing the key that opens the lock. The spectators then tear open the envelope, remove the key and open the lock themselves. Key R Rect is a precision made piece of equipment that will stand the toughest examination.
