Beautiful vintage Middle Eastern artisan box, hand-carved from warm walnut wood. The lid features exquisite geometric marquetry and mosaic inlay detailing, accented with mother-of-pearl style triangles. A highly unique feature of this box is the centerpiece: an authentic antique Chinese "Qianlong Tongbao" ( 乾隆通寶 ) cash coin from the Qing Dynasty (dating between 1736–1795) embedded directly into the central diamond motif. In Middle Eastern woodcraft during the mid-to-late 20th century, artisan workshops occasionally inlaid these specific vintage coins into their pieces as a traditional symbol of good luck and prosperity. The interior features a clean, unlined natural wood finish with three fixed wooden dividers, creating four distinct storage compartments. This narrow layout makes it perfect for storing tasbih (prayer beads), watches, or small jewelry pieces. Good vintage condition with a beautiful natural wood patina. The hinges are in clean, strong condition with no corrosion, and the bottom is completely flat and unmarked. Please note there is a tight hairline crack running horizontally through the center of one of the carved wooden diamond motifs on the lid (clearly shown in the close-up photo). This is a common and natural development from humidity shifts over time; the box remains structurally sound.
