Please read: The Absolute Persistence software (Computrace) is active on the laptop, which was part of a device management policy used in my former workplace. I have been allowed to take ownership of the machine. Absolute Persistence is a BIOS-based product and cannot be removed by users — a company needs to release the device through the official portal at Absolute; hasn't been done yet. The software agent will try contacting their servers, but won't interfere with the use of Linux in any way (It automatically enrolls Windows OS machines only).
