Mineral: Fluorite on Matrix Locality: Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dalnegorsk, Dalnegorsk Urban District, Primorsky Krai, Russia Size: 4.8cm x 4.5cm x 4.2cm Weight: 91g A jewel-like fluorite from Russia. The photos don't convey the gemminess of this piece, the crystals are transparent and contrast well against the orange-brown matrix. This is from the heyday of Dalnegorsk fluorite finds in the early 1990's, difficult to find on the market nowadays. Interestingly, one of the corners of the crystal has a trisoctohedral termination. There is a fair amount of internal cleaving, however this results in a myriad of rainbows in the right lighting. They are primarily visible in sunlight, less-so in internal lighting. This piece came from an old French collection, and comes with the original red felt base and associated label as seen in the pics. No repairs or restoration.
