This listing is for one (1) hand crafted / blown , fired cased , glass vase by Stevens & Williams. The design is called "Peachblow" in the "Matsumonoke" style , patented by Frederick Carder of Stevens & Williams in 1884. This gorgeous piece is made of white-cased glass with an interior of deep fuchsia pink. Hand painted with exquisite white, gold, pink and fuchsia colors in detail are present on this piece. The design is in bulbous form, adorned with a tapered, shaped, ruffled rim. It features also include the very special detail of hand applied glass vines, leaves, acorns, with one vine forming the handle. The applied amber gold glass extends to the base, with five leaf-shaped feet, and to the very edge of the crimped rim. Stevens & Williams was a renowned glassmaking company in Stourbridge, England. They produced works from the 1830s into the 1930s. This piece would be a wonderful addition to any Victorian, antique or decorative glass collection. The late Victorian era and the Art Nouveau style was often inspired by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers. The main characteristics of the late Victorian period and Art Nouveau design conveyed a sense of dynamism and movement, often given by asymmetry or whiplash lines and the use of modern materials, particularly iron, glass to create unusual forms.. This vase stands 10 inches tall. The width at the top of the rim is 5 inches, and a measurement of 4 inches in width at the bulbous body. This very special piece is in excellent mint condition to display or hold your favorite small bouquet.
