Small 18th-century Latin schoolbook / classical reader, collecting historical passages and moral precepts from secular classical writers. This copy includes both Pars Prima and Pars Altera title pages, bound together in a compact leather volume. A very appealing copy for collectors of old educational books because it preserves early manuscript use: ownership/practice inscriptions and notes on the pastedown, title area, and preliminary leaves. One note appears to be dated 6 Decembre 1808; other names/notes are partly legible. Worn period leather binding with raised bands and red page edges. Heavy rubbing and wear to boards, spine, corners, and edges; surface loss and scuffing to leather; staining, toning, soiling, ink notes, and handling wear throughout. Text remains readable. Not collated page by page, so sold as-is. All books we sell are original copies, we do not sell reproductions.
