Description

Octagonal California Gold 1/2 Token Dated 1858...(probably Early 20th Century). DATED 1858. California Gold Token of the late 19th Century to the early 20th Century. I'm fairly certain that the gold content is higher on this one. I test California Gold tokens electronically by putting them in a pile(individual coins are too small). CALIFORNIA GOLD 1/2 TOKEN DATED 1858 California Gold Token of the late 19th Century to the early 20th Century. Originally, they were back-dated to circumnavigate the Coin Act of 1868. It also explains the absence of the word, "dollar" after the reverse fraction. At some point, producers began selling them a souvenirs because of diminishing gold content. Because of its size, it is difficult to get a reading on its gold content. It could be as low as 8K*. *"Seller(experienced collector) Note".... I'm fairly certain that the gold content is higher on this one. I test California Gold tokens electronically by putting them in a pile(individual coins are too small). When I remove this coin from the pile, the gold content of the pile drops considerably. More so than with other "Post-Act" tokens... YOUR EMAILS ARE WELCOME HERE...
