Many Navajo believe the Thunderbird guides the souls of the dead through the underworld. At 73, I am letting go of vintage items. This Copper Thunderbird Necklace was made by the Bell Trading Post, a manufacturer of Native American style jewelry based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Bell Trading Company sold Native American Indian jewelry at various tourist locations in the South West until 1972. The copper chain is a rope style and is 30" long. The pendant is 2 inches long and is stamped "solid copper" on the back. This was purchased about 1970.
