Atq Famille Rose Canton Medallion 2pc Soup Rice Bowl w/Under Plate C.1890's #2. Matching Paneled Dish is highly decorated. This piece is in excellent condition - especially for its age - and a bit harder to find smaller rice/soup bowl with underplate. Photos do not capture the texture and relief left by the paint, however it's brush strokes can be seen and felt. From a Collector's Estate who meticulously collected for over 75 years! Both matching pieces are hand painted in colorful, thick relief enamels. Heavy gold gilding, indicative of early pieces. "China" mark. Circa 1890-1915. Masterful artistry shows off highly detailed imagery of Peonies (National flower of China), perched birds on Cherry Blossom branches, butterflies, moths. Chinese design and symbols gilded red - the Chinese character known as "Shou", represents longevity. Gilded edges. This is the smaller, harder to find and more "compact" version of the Famille Rose Medallion rice/soup bowls. The artist skillfully and beautifully painted this piece from top to bottom! Rice/soup bowl has beautiful hand painted enamel gilded peony interior band. Matching Paneled Dish is highly decorated.
