This is such a quietly beautiful antique wallpaper with a soft taupe and cream palette, designed in a delicate repeating lattice filled with stylized floral motifs. This dates to the late 1800’s, circa 1880’s to 1900, when earlier 18th century designs were being reinterpreted and reproduced for a new generation of interiors. The pattern is deeply rooted in 18th century French design, echoing Louis XVI neoclassical decoration, yet this example was produced later as part of the great revival period when these timeless patterns were brought back into fashion. The tones are wonderfully gentle and refined ~ true muted tones with a tone on tone effect that makes this piece incredibly versatile. It has that understated elegance that works in both traditional and modern interiors alike. The surface has a lovely soft patina that only time can give, creating a warm and layered look. This is a light to medium weight antique paper and can absolutely be used as wallpaper, or for lining cupboards, drawers, framing panels, or for decorative arts and craft projects. MEASUREMENTS: This piece measures approximately 17 inches long by 20 inches wide ~ CONDITION: This lovely wallpaper is in as found vintage condition. There are light signs of time and handling only some marks a few wrinkles ~ lovely lightly touched by time and hands! :) I love offering these original papers as a way to decorate sustainably ~ using antique and vintage materials in today’s home is such a special way to bring history forward while making thoughtful, ecofriendly choices.
