Approximate Size - Width: 47 cm (18.50 inches) - Depth: 36.7 cm (14.45 inches) - Height: 11 cm (4.33 inches) - Weight: 4.8 kg (10.58 lbs) Crafted in the late Edo period by the renowned master Murata Seimin, celebrated for his exquisite lost-wax bronze casting, this work carries forward a lineage of unparalleled craftsmanship. His adopted son, Tōun, succeeded him as the second-generation Seimin, inheriting and refining his mentor’s extraordinary techniques. Active from the closing years of the Edo era through the early Meiji period, Tōun created masterpieces that, as seen in this work, could rival—and at times surpass—the brilliance of the first generation. The meticulously rendered dragons and phoenixes, executed with a delicacy that belies the medium of cast bronze, radiate both strength and elegance. Their presence conveys a profound sense of wabi-sabi and refined dignity. Beyond its historical and artistic value as a work by a master metalworker, this is a truly exceptional piece—an object of luxury worthy of preservation for future generations.
