As it turns out, he was also anti-communist and a propagandist paid by the CIA to turn US opinion in favor of intervention there, so some of the events described in his books were fiction. This book contains abridgements of four of his books. Still, the books give an eye-witness account of Southeast Asia before the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, though some of it must be taken with a grain of salt. Revised edition, printed in 1962. Published by Ariel Books, New York. 5 3/4 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall. Original dust jacket. Black cloth covers with silver stamping on spine. 275 pages. 16 pages of photos, all b&w. Condition: Dust jacket shows some wear: large chip missing from the upper spine edge, small tear at lower spine corner, two small tears on the rear flap fold, soiling and sun-fading on the spine paper, some rubbing on the flap fold corners, front flap is creased, some staining on the lower; flaps are not clipped. Covers show light wear under the paper: spine edges are rolled, outer corners are not bumped, light soiling on the page edges. No writings or stampings inside the book.
