This very-generously illustrated book has been collated complete and is the only edition published in a cream-colored cloth binding with the top edge gilt.; it was gifted to the Patrons of the Smithsonian at the time of publication. The book is in Very Good condition with some age-toning and wear to the binding, with the front interior hinge netting visible between two preliminary pages, and with some gentle wear. Several text pages are unopened along the bottom edge (i.e., this book has not been read). In addition to the color frontispiece (i.e., image #1 below), there are 81 halftone photographs, most of which are full-page in size; they are printed on glossy paper and in Fine condition. There also are 21, in-text, black-and-white illustrations.
