Vintage mid-century Japanese lacquer coaster set with matching lidded storage box, featuring genuine abalone (mother of pearl) inlay. This export-era set dates to the 1950s–1960s and features traditional scenic Japanese imagery including pagodas, Mt. Fuji, boats, birds, and shoreline landscapes rendered in gold, blue, and red detailing on a glossy black lacquer background. The lid of the storage box includes a striking abalone shell inlay panel beneath the pagoda scene, adding iridescent shimmer and elevating this set above standard lacquer coaster sets.
