Vintage 1960's Japanese "Laughing Buddha" Sake Decanter. Vintage c.1960's Japanese "Laughing Buddha" Sake Decanter. It was produced by the company House of Koshu, and features a hand-painted Satsuma-style moriage. The ceramic figurine depicts Hotei, the jolly, pot-bellied monk, a widely recognized symbol of happiness, abundance, and contentment. In Feng Shui and Japanese folklore, the fan is an ancient symbol that wards off negativity, dispels misfortune, and is associated with granting wishes.
