This was the second film from the avant-garde Chilean director, and is best described as an “Acid Western” (think Fellini being tapped to direct ‘The Treasure of the Sierra Madre’). El Topo is widely acknowledged with starting the “Midnight Movie” cult craze that flourished during the 1970’s and 1980’s in particular. This is the first copy I have come across.
