Description
Ricardo Mesa, born in Chile in 1931, was a renowned sculptor who defected to Spain in the early 1970s. He passed away in 2000. This piece is from his most famous series called "Las Gordas" or "Fat Ladies". This white porcelain sculpture portrays a body positive woman grasping her feet while reclining nude with a cheery smile on her face. This full-bodied Botero like female exudes confidence and contentment. Her jovial disposition is contagious and is sure to bring happiness to any collector. She is in need of a deeper more detailed cleaning. I wiped her down with a soft cloth however some dirt/dust remains. Rotund, Rubenesque and 100% Ravishing!! Measurements are approximate as she is round. 5"T x 4.5"L x 4.5"W Incised signature by artist A true collector piece by an underrated and lesser known sculptor (at least in the states).
