Original red 九谷 KUTANI stamp on the underside. The fine porcelain body, combined with detailed decoration, makes this cup not only functional for serving sake but also collectible piece of Japanese ceramic art. This is a charming and rare example of vintage Kutani hexagonal porcelain sake cup (ochoko) hand painted on the inside with a flying red-headed crane over his nest with white eggs in it. Blue hand applied enamel of an oriental water scenery and mountain on the outside. Gold rim and accents on the inside. Small pedestal base. A truly unique little piece. The fine porcelain body, combined with detailed decoration, makes this cup not only functional for serving sake but also collectible piece of Japanese ceramic art. Measures approximately 3/4”H x 2” across. Original red 九谷 KUTANI stamp on the underside. In excellent vintage condition with minor loss of gold on the rim.
