Condition : This sculpture is in a perfect condition Bronze Dimensions with Marble Base: Height 19" X Width 7" Marble Dimensions: Diameter 7" Height without base:18" Weight:20 LBS Inventory:43STE2149134 This striking bronze sculpture depicts a French Civil War drummer, shown wearing the standard attire of the period. Both Royalists and Parliamentarians relied heavily on drummers to communicate coded messages to their troops during battle. The uniforms and drum designs used by both sides were remarkably similar, reflecting the shared traditions of military ceremony and discipline of the time. Drummers were typically experienced, mature men, entrusted with the vital role of relaying commands through rhythmic signals. Though they carried swords as part of their uniform, these were seldom used in combat, as drummers rarely engaged directly in fighting. Their presence symbolized order, coordination, and the structured cadence of military life amid the chaos of war. This finely detailed sculpture stands 19 inches tall, cast entirely in solid bronze using the traditional lost wax method. Nice quality bronze. Got this to match another one I recently purchased to use as bookends for larger books. The bases match, but the figures are slightly different. This is something I didn't expect, but I actually really like the subtle differences in the figures of the dancers. Packaging was secure and ensured her safe arrival. I highly recommend this seller.
