He has given poetry performance readings around the country. The poems themselves are reminiscent of Smith and are set in and create a fantastical lost world. A unique book of fantasy poems by Donald Sydney Fryer, a poet and admirer of Clark Ashton Smith. Fryer edited Smith's Poems in Prose and Other Dimensions collection for Arkham House, has written papers on Smith and Lovecraft, and as can be seen in the back cover photo is quite the character. He has given poetry performance readings around the country. In this tome Fryer takes the alter ego of Dr. Ibid Andor, an "Atlantologist" who has spent years translating these poems from the original Atlantean language into English, and provides extensive notes on the poems with Atlantean historical background. The poems themselves are reminiscent of Smith and are set in and create a fantastical lost world. A unique endeavor which Fryer has since expanded to three volumes of poems. This Arkham House first edition is limited to 2000 copies and is in fine/like new condition. Dustjacket is clean and bright without any discoloration, the book itself has shiny unblemished black boards, the pages are brilliant white, the binding tight. I could only open the book slightly to take the pictures. There is the slightest bump to the top rear of the spine as can be seen in the photos. It has been in my possession since I purchased it from the publisher, never read, and kept in a smoke free home.
