B. Millet Co. of Boston in 1907, is a richly illustrated set documenting global historical figures and milestones from antiquity to the 19th century. "Illustrated with photogravures from paintings by great artists and from authentic portraits." Each volume collects biographical sketches and essays about major historical figures and pivotal events spanning civilizations — from early Eastern empires and classical antiquity through medieval Europe and modern Western history. Contributors include noted historians and essayists of the late 19th century, making the set a cross between an encyclopedia and a literary history compendium. This set is in good condition for its age. It has an ex-libris name stamped in the front covers, and some soil to page edges, top page edges are still nicely gilded. Internally in good condition.
