This richly colored postcard presents a grand view of The Otesaga, a stately waterfront resort in Cooperstown, Otsego County, New York. Constructed in 1909 by Edward Clark and Stephen C. Clark, the five-story Georgian Revival-style building is shown in stunning detail, featuring its long columned portico entrance, dormered mansard roof, symmetrical red-brick wings, and a central cupola flying the American flag. A curved driveway leads guests through manicured grounds to the hotel’s main entry, where vintage automobiles are parked under tall shade trees. The image captures the elegance and grandeur that made The Otesaga a premier destination for summer visitors to the Leatherstocking Region. Back of the card lists “Star Quality” production by Charles W. Hughes of Mechanicville, New York, and identifies the publisher as CT American Art. The Otesaga remains one of Cooperstown’s architectural jewels and continues operating as a luxury resort.
