To change scanner settings, FREE software is necessary. It can be downloaded from Hokuyo after signing up using your email (they have customer sign up to prevent data mining.) From Hokuyo website: Originally designed for scanning the movement path of automated material handling systems. Intended to prevent the collision of systems or vehicles. LED based scanner with 180 degree scanning field. An RS-232 (computer) connection is provided to allow detection area programming and output control. Scanner can be used for safety barriers in automation spaces such as collaboration robot work areas. Infrared LED's constantly scan detection area. The object location is calculated into one of fifteen area segments. This detector FAILS SAFE. Outputs are logic high when safe and logic low when object detected. Upon loss of power the system will read an object present in detectable area. Mounts using two metric screws on rear.
