29" MAPPIN&WEBB Prince's Plate Silverplate Serving Tray-Oval+Handles-Cocktail DIMENSIONS: 29" wide including the handles x 19" x 2". Weight: approx. 8 lbs. DESCRIPTION: Very large antique serving tray. By MAPPIN & WEBB, London & Sheffield. Silverplate. Oval with handles. Flat bottom. Ribbed border and handles. There is a small hand engraved griffin in the center of the tray. Maker's marks: "Triple Deposit - Mappin & Webb's Prince's Plate - London & Sheffield - W11275" along with what appears to be a gothic lower case "m" inside a shield, presumably a date letter; on the opposite end of the tray back there is another small symbol, significance unknown. 1920s-30s I believe. CONDITION: Generally very good original condition. No damage. No significant wear. No restorations. No dings, dents, bends, breaks, splits, cracks, gouges. No significant scratches or rubs. No signs of abuse. No significant wear to the plating. Old patina as found with typical superficial age-related oxidation. (This tray can be polished bright if you desire that look.) No corrosion. No pitting. Generally clean as found -- no grime, no polish residue. Light typical use-related wear: scattered fine/superficial scratches and rubs. Nothing significant or conspicuous. Used but not abused.
