Schmid Hummel Dated Ball "Heavenly Trio" 1978 - Fifth Limited Edition The artist Berta Hummel, later Sister Maria Innocentia, created over 600 drawings in her short lifetime in the first part of the 20th C. These works were first published as illustrations in children’s books and cards and later as earthenware figurines by the Goebel Company. In the 1970s, the Schmid Company of Randolph, MA obtained the rights from Hummel’s mother Viktoria and brother, Adolf. These glass ornaments are believed to have been manufactured by Corning Glass and decorated by or for Schmid. These balls are offered elsewhere from $10 to $35 each. This item has been kept in climate-controlled storage, but the 1978 ball does have a few, tiny age spots. It has never been hung on a tree and is presented in the original, unopened packaging.
