Georgia interstate 285 grand opening sign. Up for sale today is this Georgia I-285 Atlanta Loop sign, from the opening ceremony of October 15th, 1969, when the road was completed all the way around Atlanta with at least two lanes in each direction. Nowadays of course it's up to about six lanes in each direction, and a travel speed of 90. (or is that 90 lanes with a travel speed of six?) An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; also, as far as I know, they only made one and probably discarded it immediately (along with good old Ax-Handle Les). So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without having to dust off the time machine. The sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 lb. 15 oz., and is 12 by 9 inches. If you would like a different size, please do not hesitate to inquire. This is a high quality, heavy steel, non-reflective sign — perfect for indoor or outdoor display. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
