This is an original press photo. Alabama-Birmingham Underpasses: Avenue F underpass (beneath L &N Railroad tracks on 6th Avenue South, between 6th and 8th Steets) - Underpass about ready- Public Improvements Commissioner James W. Morgan said today the "Avenue F" underpass should be finished and ready for traffic within two weeks. It's in the final stages of construction-about 30 days earlier than scheduled. The underpass cost approximately $900,000. It was partly financed with Works Progress Administration funds held in escrow since that age agency went out of business and part of a $1,000,000 expenditure approved by local citizens in a vote on the city's overall viaduct and underpass program several years ago. No state funds were spent on it, Mr. Morgan said. The underpass in beneath the L. & N. Railroad tracks on Sixth Avenue, South, between Sixth and Eighth Streets.Photo measures 9 x 7inches.
