Human Rights in the Asia-Pacific Region Please note: this item is printed on demand and will take extra time before it can be dispatched to you (up to 20 working days). Towards Institution Building Author(s): Hitoshi Nasu, Ben Saul Format: Hardback Publisher: Taylor & Francis Ltd, United Kingdom Imprint: Routledge ISBN-13: 9780415602549, 978-0415602549 Synopsis The Asia-Pacific is known for having the least developed regional mechanisms for protecting human rights. This edited collection makes a timely and distinctive contribution to contemporary debates about building institutions for human rights protection in the Asia-Pacific region, in the wake of ASEANs establishment in 2009 of a sub-regional human rights commission. Drawing together leading scholarly voices, the book focuses on the systemic issue of institutionalising human rights protection in the Asia-Pacific. It critically examines the prospects for deepening and widening human rights institutions in the region, challenging the orthodox scepticism about whether the Asia-Pacific is "ready" for stronger human rights institutions and exploring the variety of possible forms that regional and sub-regional institutions might take. The volume also analyses the impediments to new institutions, whilst questioning the justifications for them. The collection provides a range of perspectives on the issues and many of the chapters bring interdisciplinary insights to bear. As such, the collection will be of interest to scholarly, practitioner, and student audiences in law, as well as to readers in international relations, political science, Asian studies, and human rights.

  1. Good seller, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ item as described, packaging average, delivery was a huge disappointment as it was thrown at my front door by an AMAZON driver. I purchased via eBay to avoid AMAZON, now they are involved leaving our eBay purchases on our doorsteps. I do have cctv of the driver throwing my package. I brought the poor delivery to the attention of the seller who advised they would contact the delivery organisation concerned about the breach in their delivery instructions.

    Relatively Uncertain
  2. This new book I ordered was poorly packaged & arrived in a cardboard wrap which was wide open & the pages had bent & damaged corners. I contacted the seller who sent a return label & arranged for a new replacement to be sent out. The new book arrived in great condition a few days later. Very happy with their communication & the way they resolved my issue quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to shop with them again. Thank you for the great customer service.

  3. It seems silly being asked to leave feedback 3 times for 3 books bought in the same order so 'copy and paste' it is... Ordered Friday and delivered the following Friday. Communicayion was good but the courier was a bit optimistic saying on Thursday that I would get the parcel that day. It arrived the next afternoon. Good packaging, all books new and excelllent condition. Good prices = or I would not have purchased!
