1850 Hartford and New Haven Railroad Payment Receipt M. L. Sikes Jr. $3,500 #218. Details are completed in rich brown ink, featuring the characteristic flowing 19th-century script typical of financial records of the period. Condition: Excellent; light toning with sharp printing, bold signature, and clean edges. Original printed fiscal receipt dated July 2, 1850, issued by the Hartford and New Haven Railroad Company, and signed by M. L. Sikes Jr. This document acknowledges the payment of $3,500.00, written as “Thirty five hundred dollars”, for disbursements. The printed form includes an ornate engraved left border and shaded boxes for the payment amount and receipt number (No. 218). The body of the receipt is set in clear black type, with company name prominently displayed in serif capitals. Details are completed in rich brown ink, featuring the characteristic flowing 19th-century script typical of financial records of the period.
