Written by distinguished Soviet economists, the volume reexamines the historical interplay between Russian and Western economic ideas, challenging earlier interpretations that overemphasized Western influences while undervaluing Russia’s indigenous intellectual traditions. The authors meticulously analyze primary and secondary sources, offering fresh insights into the role of economic thought in shaping Russia’s early societal structures and its enduring legacy. This translation aims to make these seminal essays accessible to Western readers, emphasizing the ideological context and nuances embedded in Soviet scholarship. Beyond its academic value, the book highlights the ideological divergence between Soviet and Western social thought, inviting readers to contemplate the underlying forces that shape intellectual and political dynamics across civilizations. With its comprehensive glossary, index, and faithful adherence to the authors’ intent, this volume not only illuminates the trajectory of Russian economic ideas but also fosters a broader understanding of how historical and ideological frameworks influence modern global relations. 1. I've ordered from Rarewaves here in the US and the UK multiple times, and continue to do so. They always seem to have something I can't find anywhere else at all or for a reasonable price. When I purchase used items, they are as described, if not a grade better. Aways a quick turnaround after ordering, every item arrives promptly, professionally packaged. Many orders have free shipping, even for solitary item orders. I never needed a reason to communicate, as I've had no cause. Recommended.

  2. Received item as described and packaged well. Listing indicated shipping was free. Ordered on the 7th but by the 14th noticed it hadn’t been shipped yet. Seller responded quickly saying that during the purchase process that it said it would not be shipped until the 22nd because they use a fulfillment house. I don’t recall seeing anything about delayed shipping during the process or in the listing. While I appreciate the prompt response to my inquiry, other buyers should be aware of delays.

  3. The book was brand still plastic wrapped. Looks exactly like the picture for a reasonable price including shipping. In perfect condition. Shipping was slow and I was worried that I was scammed again. Seller did respond to my message after a day and explained the item would be shipped within a week. The item shipping and tracking was updated by the date they stated. Took about 2 weeks to receive item. I’m usually impressed when item is shipped and received within a week.
