This fabric was found in antique dowry chest or cupboards as it was once used to make grain sacking for very heavy grain! The strip is the signature of which family farm the grain belonged to. I've been selling these amazing antique European bolts to be used as stair runner for over 25 years. I have many photographs of them installed in many homes all over the world!~ The last 3 photos in this listing are examples of similar fabrics in use, included to inspire you with creative ways to incorporate this textile into your home. This fabric also works beautifully as hallway carpeting, table runners, or rustic rugs. Its timeless, heavy weave and natural beauty make it a stunning addition to any home. This piece is especially suited for any period interior, with lovely natural tones . This unused bolt dates from the early 1900s and was entirely woven by hand. It took the average weaver to weave 21 inches in one night's work. I love knowing these fabrics were organically grown! Why You’ll Love It This textile is wonderfully versatile and built to last a lifetime. From stair runners to table accents, these heavy, durable fabrics have been treasured for generations, and now they can add their charm and history to your home. STAIR RUNNER INSTRUCTIONS These textiles are incredibly durable and perfect for stair runners. To measure your stairs, use a piece of string to follow the entire area where the runner will lay, then measure the string to determine the required length. Fitting is usually done with a thin felt underlay and then either tacked, nailed, or stapled to the stairs. You can also use stair rods for a more decorative touch, but it's certainly not necessary! The Bianchini-Férier lampas was absolutely stunning—exquisite quality and exactly as described, but sadly the color wasn’t quite right for my project. That said, the true hallmark of a top-tier seller is how they handle returns, and this seller was extraordinary: prompt, gracious, communicative, and completely customer-focused from start to finish. I would buy from her again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
