Item Description Title: THE RUSSIAN BALLET 1921-1929 The Ballets Russes Les Ballets Russes was a Russian ballet company active mainly in Europe for 20 years from 1909 to 1929. It was not a conventional ballet company affiliated with an opera house, but a private ballet company that did not have its own theater, which was rare at that time. The Ballets Russes' activities, which had continued to shock the world and breathe new life into the art, came to an abrupt end with Diaghilev's sudden death. However, some of the Ballets Russes were taken over by the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, and the dancers and choreographers of the Ballets Russes continued to perform throughout the world, and they also established ballet schools to teach younger generations, which greatly expanded the popularity of ballet and the ballet market. This book was published immediately after Diaghilev's death, perhaps to preserve a record of the golden age of the Russian ballet company from 1921 to 1929. The book is ex libris (Eliot specialist) Dr Hiroshi Takizama who wrote Deciphering Eliot and a translation of The Wasteland into Japanese. It thus has American,English and Japanese cultural significance.
