Salt Lake City's Modern Architecture by Steve Cornell, John Ewanowski Estimated delivery 3-12 business days Format Paperback Condition Brand New Description The postwar era led to a threefold population increase in Salt Lake County between 1940 and 1980 and brought with it a building boom largely concentrated in Salt Lake City. Office towers reached farther toward the sky, college campuses grew outward to accommodate the influx of students on the GI Bill, religious facilities were built for a diversifying population, and arenas and theaters were constructed for people enjoying their newly discovered leisure time. This building boom was anchored in Modernism, an architectural movement defined by rationalism and functionalism. Modernism first caught hold in large American cities then proliferated to the rest of the country in more provincial cities like Salt Lake. This book explores the lasting impression of Modernism on Salt Lake's built environment and highlights projects by both homegrown architects as well as architects from farther afield practicing in the burgeoning city. Landmark structures such as the First Security Bank building and the Salt Palace highlight the city's Modern architecture and, along with more mundane examples, bring it to light at a moment when it is increasingly targeted for demolition. 1. Like new condition, safe packaging, good communication from seller. Fair price for the quality. Shipping was on time, but tracking information took over a week to receive. The book was as-described with minor cosmetic flaws (indentations in some pages, for example). I wish the listings showed the actual item being sold to you instead of just an accurate stock photo. This edition and appearance of George Orwell's 1984 here is a nice pocket-sized hardcover. I would buy from this shop again.

  2. The two new out-of-print books I ordered were exactly as described and shipped promptly. I did ask the seller's support person (an AI chatbot, I think) to be sure to package the items carefully, and "he" said that he'd make that request of the shipping department. I knew this was hooey, and as I expected, the books were shipped in nothing but a padded paper mailer, no other protection. I got lucky, no damage, but don't bother making special requests of this seller.

Very attentive to detail and responsive. Will buy from again!  Had a small issue with the item, but the seller resolved it quickly. Great customer service!  The seller went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my purchase. Highly recommended!
