H, 25th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, in Union uniform. Biddle accompanied the regiment from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, to Washington, D.C., in April 1861 and was attacked en route by Confederate sympathizers in Baltimore, Maryland. He remained with the regiment for the full three-month term of service before returning to Pottsville. He raised funds for wounded Union soldiers at the Great Central Fair in Philadelphia in 1864 by selling his photograph.Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pa. Published by W.R.
