Publisher Description David Corkhill analyses the Europeanization of the Portuguese economy in the context of closer European integration, globalization and the struggle to achieve international competitiveness. Portugal, he argues, is an interesting case of the latecomer modernizer that latches on to Europe as the vehicle for its economic transformation. European integration facilitated Portugal's transformation from insularity and uncompetitiveness into a modernizing economy that is steady, if unevenly, converging with its EU partners. Filling a major gap in English language literature on the economy of this EU member state, The Development of the Portugese Economy examines the development of Portugal's small, open economy and places its economic trajectory within the Southern European 'Cohesion Group' (Spain, Greece, Ireland and Portugal) context. Corkhill reveals how this previously weak economy has experienced growth, convergence, structural change and international competition. The book contains studies of public policy initiatives, case studies to highlight uneven sectoral responses and assesses the pitfalls Portugal may face as part of is a unique, up-to-date review of the contemporary situation, written for economists, economic historians and those studying Europe. 1. Great Historic Reproduction of African-American early comics and was just as described and in great shape – packaged relatively well, although treated more like a paperback novel than a historic graphic novel during the shipping process. The great thing is my first order never arrived, and I reached out to the seller who offered me a refund or to reship the book. I obviously opted for the reship!! Great seller and great communication, I would certainly purchase from this seller again. A+++

  2. Like new condition, safe packaging, good communication from seller. Fair price for the quality. Shipping was on time, but tracking information took over a week to receive. The book was as-described with minor cosmetic flaws (indentations in some pages, for example). I wish the listings showed the actual item being sold to you instead of just an accurate stock photo. This edition and appearance of George Orwell's 1984 here is a nice pocket-sized hardcover. I would buy from this shop again.

  3. The two new out-of-print books I ordered were exactly as described and shipped promptly. I did ask the seller's support person (an AI chatbot, I think) to be sure to package the items carefully, and "he" said that he'd make that request of the shipping department. I knew this was hooey, and as I expected, the books were shipped in nothing but a padded paper mailer, no other protection. I got lucky, no damage, but don't bother making special requests of this seller.
